JEE Advanced 2017 Eligibility Criteria and Exam Schedule

Joint Entrance Examination(JEE) is one of the toughest examination that is conducted by the Central Board for Secondary Education to get admission in the various Graduate and Post Graduate programs such as B.Tech/B.Arch programs which are offered by NITs, IIITs, and other engineering colleges. The whole process of this exam is completed in two-phase which is conducted over a few months. The two stages are Main and Advanced .  JEE Advanced is a 2nd stage examination of Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). The candidates who qualify the main examination are eligible to move ahead for the Advanced. JEE Advanced 2017 exam will be scheduled in the month of May. JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria 2017 

The candidates who are going to appear in JEE Advanced 2017 they should keep in mind a few important milestone, timeline and details. Such as age,numbers of attempts, qualifying exam, educational requirement,  etc.

 1 – Performance in JEE Main 2017

The candidates must be RANKED in among the top 2,20,000 (including all categories) with scoring positive marks in  Paper I i.e. JEE Main 2017.Category-wise distribution of “top” candidates

The percentages will be different for all category candidates such as 50.5% (open for all), 27% for OBC-NCL, 15% for SC and 7.5% for ST and 3% horizontal reservation is available for PwD candidates, including Dyslexic ones.

2- Age Limit

  • The candidate’s date of birth should be  on or after 1st October 1992 for General category Candidates.
  • For others category of Candidates ( SC, ST and PwD categories) will get 5 years relaxation, therefore, their date of birth must be on or after October 1, 1987.

 3 – Number of attempts

The candidates can attempt the entrance exam a maximum 2 times in consecutive years.

 4 – Appearance in class XII or equivalent exam

The candidates who are appearing for JEE Advanced 2017 must have all the eligibility criteria before applying for further process.

  • The candidates who will get the rank among top 2 lack in JEE Main will be eligible for appearing the JEE Advanced 2017exams.
  • The candidates who are appearing in  JEE Advanced must  have passed the 12th or equivalent exam in the year 2016 or 2017 in one attempt.
  • The Candidates who have qualified class 12th or equivalent exam in 2015 or earlier are not eligible to apply.
  • The Candidates whose admission in IITs or ISM was canceled are also not eligible to apply.
  • Candidates must have to score 75% aggregate marks for both reserved and general category.
  • If candidates who appeared in the 12th or equivalent examination  in 2016 and wish to (or has to) reappear in 2016, should reappear in all the subjects.
