When will the first beta version of iOS 26 be released?

iOS 19 or iOS 26, as the new OS for the iPhone will apparently be called, is about to be officially introduced, and the wait is very short. The presentation will take place at the annual developer conference WWDC 2025, which Apple will hold on June 9. This year, a lot of attention is focused on it-a major update is expected with support for Apple Intelligence, a new design and a number of chips that are already being rumored. But one of the main questions that worries everyone is: when will it be possible to install the beta version of iOS and try it out on your device?

The good news is that Apple has been following the same tradition for years. Immediately after the presentation ends, on the same day, the first beta version of the new iOS becomes available for developers. This means that on the evening of June 9, developers will be able to install iOS 26 Developer Beta 1 on their devices. However, to do this, you will have to register in the Apple developer program.

However, users who participate in the public testing program will have to wait a little longer. Usually, the first public beta is released 2-4 weeks after the presentation-approximately in late June or early July. But it will also be far from the final version of the system.

It’s important to understand that the first beta versions of iOS are rarely stable. They can slow down, overheat the device, drain the battery, and cause app crashes. Moreover, not all the features shown at WWDC will appear in the first builds. Apple often adds innovations gradually — in the next beta or in updates like iOS 26.1 and 26.2. So if you want stability, it’s better to wait at least until the second beta or public release.

Nevertheless, iOS 26 promises to be a major update: we are waiting for a redesigned design, expanded Apple Intelligence capabilities, improvements in notifications, widgets and, possibly, new security features. Therefore, the interest in beta is huge.

If you have a spare iPhone — feel free to try it. But if you plan to install it on your main smartphone, then you should not do this, of course. If you really want to, then do not forget about a backup copy and be prepared for the unexpected. Already on June 9, everything will start, and this will only be the first step towards the final iOS 26, which we will see in the fall.
